Abstract

Based on the theoretical review of the SQ3R strategy and the instructional requirements for teaching informational text reading in the 2018 General Education Curriculum for Literature, this article proposes an approach to applying the SQ3R strategy to the design of reading instruction activities at each instructional stage, with the aim of developing high school students’ informational text reading comprehension competence. Through pedagogical experimentation, the study provides initial evidence of the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed instructional measures in supporting students' development of informational text reading comprehension. This study contributes to improving the effectiveness of teaching informational text reading comprehension in high schools according to the 2018 General Education Curriculum for Literature.
