Abstract

In the context of ongoing educational reform and the development of a streamlined and strong military, fostering self-regulation among military cadets is of significant importance. This study aims to clarify the theoretical basis, develop a research model, and assess the current state of self-regulation according to the characteristics of the military profession among cadets. The research employed a questionnaire survey with a sample of 509 participants and applied statistical analyses. The results indicate that the level of self-regulation was moderate, approaching a relatively high level (Mean: 3.27). Among the components, regulation of learning attitudes and behaviors scored the highest (Mean: 3.45), while self-control and resistance to deviant behaviors were the lowest (Mean: 3.19); there were statistically significant differences in the levels of self-regulation among cadets across different years of training, with an increasing trend in senior years. The components are strongly correlated (r = 0.763–0.815; p < 0.01), reflecting a unified structure of self-regulation. The findings contribute to both theoretical and practical foundations for proposing measures to enhance self-regulation among cadets.
