THE IMPACT OF JOB SATISFACTION ON WORK ENGAGEMENT OF LECTURERS IN AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITIES

This study investigates the influence of job satisfaction on the work engagement of lecturers at autonomous universities in Vietnam. Based on survey data from 381 lecturers at three public universities implementing institutional autonomy in Ho Chi Minh City and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the results indicate that “job characteristics” are the most significant factor affecting engagement in both teaching and research. Meanwhile, factors such as career development opportunities, leadership, collegial relationships, and remuneration do not show significant impact. The study clearly distinguishes between two forms of engagement and applies SEM to validate the proposed model, thereby contributing to management policy directions aimed at enhancing lecturer motivation and work performance in the context of higher education autonomy.
