Abstract

In addition to formal education, participating in social work provides numerous benefits that help students develop holistically, particularly in terms of emotional well-being and personal skills. The objective of this study is to identify the factors influencing students’ intention to participate in social work activities. The Cronbach’s Alpha reliability analysis method, exploratory factor analysis, and univariate regression analysis using SPSS software were employed to analyze data from valid responses provided by 5,679 students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. The results indicate that five factors influence 55.4% of students’ intentions, as shown in the regression equation: Intention = .279 + .109* (attitude towards behavior) + .103* (subjective norm) + .334* (perceived behavioral control) + .340* (past experience) + .029* (university requirement). Based on these findings, the study offers recommendations for both the university and students to enhance students’ willingness to engage in social work.
