Abstract

Problem-solving skills are one of the most important skills in human life. One effective way to develop this skill is through organizing STEAM educational activities. This article presents the current knowledge and skills of preschool teachers in educating problem-solving skills to 5-6-year-old kindergarten children in STEAM educational activities. It is based on a survey of 579 preschool teachers in Hanoi. The survey results show that most teachers frequently use methods and processes for organizing these activities; the frequency of incorporating problem-solving skills objectives for 5-6-year-old children into STEAM activities is rated fairly high but close to average. Teachers face difficulties in preparing the environment, equipment, and reference materials, and find their knowledge and skills in organizing STEAM education activities aimed at developing problem-solving skills to be quite limited.
