Abstract

Sex education activities for adolescent students with autism spectrum disorder are very important and necessary for them to acquire basic skills related to gender. This article focuses on both theoretical and practical research on sex education content for adolescent children with autism spectrum disorder at the National Special Education Center. The results show that teachers have currently developed sex education for adolescent children with autism spectrum disorder with 5 basic contents: (1) Identifying one's own gender; (2) Recognizing physiological changes in the body; (3) Recognizing psychological changes in the body; (4) Basic hygiene that can be related to menstruation and wet dreams; (5) Protecting the whole self-related to gender (abuse, diseases, etc.). In which, the content of educating adolescent children with an autism spectrum disorder to identify the gender of the body and basic characteristics related to gender receives the most attention.
