Abstract

The paper identified factors affecting the English writing proficiency of non-English major students at a public university in Vietnam, particularly within the context of international collaboration, which offers students expanded academic, career, and personal development opportunities. The research synthesized previous studies and analyzed writing test scores alongside survey results on personal factors (learning motivation, foundational knowledge) and environmental factors (writing support technology, learning materials). The findings revealed that writing support technologies (e.g., Grammarly, ChatGPT) have the strongest impact, followed by learning motivation, reading habits, and teaching methods combined with high-quality feedback. Based on these results, the paper proposed practical solutions to enhance students' English writing proficiency.
