Postmodern detective is a new development trend of the detective story genre that is increasingly popular and gaining outstanding achievements from the late twentieth century to recent years. The postmodern viewpoint is applied to restructure traditional detective novels, aligning with the tastes of contemporary readers. Desacredness of detective model is one of the key steps in the process. Examining detective character named Fandorin in the novel The Death of Achilles by Russian writer Boris Akunin, the article focuses on studying desacred inspiration as the main trend in innovating the detective novel genre in postmodern condition. We found Boris Akunin's efforts to create a detective character unlike the traditional model to destructure and break the dualism that has become the golden rule in building detective characters. The author not only tells a detective story but also reveals a postmodern sense of humanity.
