GAO XINGJIAN AND NGUYEN HUY THIEP – SOME RELATIVE ASPECTS OF CAREER AND WRITING CONCEPT

Abstract

Gao Xingjian (1940- ) and Nguyen Huy Thiep (1950-2021) can be considered as two writers of the same generation. Both of them observed similar social alterations and events in their own countries which happened for half of the century, from the 1950s of the 20^th century till the first two decades of the 21^st century. Despite being a universal experience across several generations, these events created incomparable impacts and consequences. Therefore, any “coincidences” that are either inevitable or coincidental between two distinct individuals working in the same field are truly fascinating. This essay highlights the prominent aspects of life, career and writing concept that appear to be quite identical between the two writers – two unique literary phenomena in the end of the 20^th century.
