THE IMPACT OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE FOR OLDER ADULTS IN HO CHI MINH CITY

The study aims to evaluate the correlation between the adequacy of financial resources and the effectiveness of four mental health care activities for older adults in Ho Chi Minh City. Using a mixed-methods approach with quantitative data from 420 older adults, linear regression analysis confirms that financial resources have a positive and highly significant association (p < 0.01) with the effectiveness of mental health care. Specifically, financial factors are most strongly correlated with social participation (β = 0.513) and least strongly associated with basic psychological support (β = 0.345). The study highlights the disruption to informal care networks due to financial shortages, thereby proposing the necessity of integrating professional social work services to connect resources and alleviate the burden on families.
