The femme fatale is one of the most enduring and emblematic figures in classical Russian literature. In Boris Akunin’s the detective fiction, this archetype undergoes significant desacralization and reconstruction. In the series featuring the detective Erast Fandorin, Akunin continues to place female characters at the center of the narrative; however, they are no longer associated with a sacred redemptive role. Instead, they emerge as complex, ambitious, and powerful individuals capable of influencing and reshaping the destinies of men. By returning female figures to the realm of ordinary human experience, Akunin creates innovative and multifaceted variations of the traditional model, thereby encouraging readers to reflect on the role and significance of femininity in contemporary society.
